What Is Vitiligo

Cases of vitiligo are growing day by day and its very important for us to know everything about vitiligo, so that vital prevention steps can be taken to minimze the chances of vitiligo. You can see that some people have spots on their skin and you may feel curious to know about those spots, Our skin contains pigment cells and when these pigment cells fails to perform their task, Spots starts appearing on the skin. There could be so many reasons of vitiligo, It can also transfer through genes or may be any viral infection causes vitiligo becuase enviornment plays a vital role related to health issues. On the basis of wide research, it came to our notice that autoimmune and oxidative stresses are also reasons of vitiligo.
On the basis of reasons and suggestions, vitiligo has been categorized into segmental vitiligo and non-segmental vitiligo.
In NSV, there is no specific age in which vitiligo occurs, it can appear in any age and spots are not restrictive to any particular area, they can appear in large volume. Classes of Non-segmental vitiligo has been introduced on the basis of causes so that prevention can be take place according to particular cause, this step just made the prevention tools much easy.
Generalized vitiligo is the class of vitiligo in which spots appear on random basis and this class of vitiligo is common among patients.
Focal vitiligo . Research shows that chlidren suffers this class of vitiligo mostly.
Universal vitiligo appears due to high volume of depigmentation.
Segmental Vitiligo is obviously different from non-segmental vitiligo and mostly teenage group suffers due to this desease, its speed of spreading is much faster than NSV. Victim of SV is usually the area that is inter-related to dorsal roots from the spinal cord.
There is no huge symptoms of vitiligo, one main symptom can inform us clearly about vitiligo and that is spots or patches on the skin, and if we talk about the shape of spots then they could be differ and may appear on random basis and their size is also unknown, may be initially they are small and then grow, so size is unpredictable. Depigmentation usually appears on hands, wrists, legs, mouth and face. Due to vitiligo, patients can clearly notice variation in their mood.
Causes
can be vary from patient to patient, mostl common causes are enviornmental factors and any variation in immune system. Melanocytes partly contain immune system and genes which causes generalized vitiligo.
Ultraviolet light or UVA can easily diagnose vitiligo, when skin placed under these lights and if skin turns to blue colour then it means that skin has dead pigment cells and suffering vitiligo and if skin doesn't change its colour then skin is normal.
Research shows ome methods or techniques to over come vitiligo, On initial basis Immune Mediators can be used, through immune mediators, function of immune system can operate effectively with the help of glucocorti oids and calcineurin inhibitors.
Phototherapy.
After throwing UVB on the skin, phototherapy can help to minimise the vitiligo and this process can take 2-3 weeks on the condtion of low affected area and if  time period of spots on the skin are not longer than 3 years and if time period exceed from 3 years then phototherapy can take 2-3 months. For this complete procedure, patient has to go to clinic or hospital, research make us aware that we can improve pigment cells and start repigmentation through UVB.
If patient wants to hide their spots instead of removing them, Skin Camouflage can be effective for this purpose, through camouflage make-up can hide the spots.
Depigmentation is also a choice to minimise or remove the spots, but this process is time taking and may complete in a year or more than one year. Through skin bleaching and by using different drugs like monobenzone, mequinol and hydroquinone spots can be removed permanentaly but in this case patient has to take much care to avoid sun light.
Hopefully this information can help you much to understand anything about vitiligo..
